Doctors save Kyle from accident

Kyle Johnson shattered his skull in more than 10 places, in a long boarding accident ouch! He was rushed to the emergency room, where the swelling on his brain was uncontrollable. Kyle now has a 90 to 95 percent chance of dying, but doctors did not give up. They removed each side of Kyles head. This process is called bilateral decompressive craniectomy. This is something that neurosurgeons do as a last ditch effort. After doctor Welling and his team removed Kyles fractured skull they put it back together with tiny micro screws and plates. Then they put it in the freezer. Kyle was kept in a drug induced coma for about three weeks while the doctors observed his brain swelling, when it went down, Welling put the bone flaps back into its place. It took Kyle Johnson another week to wake up after all of this. 10 weeks later and Kyle is well recovered although he says its “its sort of an eerie type of feeling so I don’t know if I will ever get back on the long board". Kyle is currently undergoing cognitive therapy to help him with memory loss, and other things like multi-tasking. Remember kids always ware your helmet OKN.
