Jellyfish on Spanish Beaches

Jellyfish have stung hundreds of people on Spanish beaches, the jellyfish were known to attack mostly in three areas near the eastern city of Elche. On Sunday at least seven hundred people were stung - ouch! The beaches were never closed and officials put warning signs and lookout boats offshore. Strong currents are being blamed for all these swarming jellyfish. One big problem about these jellyfish is that they are so small and very transparent. Some swimmers might not be able to see the jellyfish. Some marine biologists say that they are seeing fewer jellyfish this summer than in past years. The bright side is jelly fish are kept from going on to shore by less salty water and runoff rain. Another problem is over fishing, and fewer fish means fewer competitors for small plankton that jellyfish feed on. So just remember kids, swim safe. Also did you know jelly fish can grow to be 120 feet long? OKN.
