A motorist who had fell asleep while his car had stopped on railroad tracks; car was hit by a train! Luckily the motorist was only injured because the Union Pacific cargo train hit the car and tor the car in half! The man drove a Hyundai Sonata, and the accident occurred Thursday at 1:15 a.m. at San Fernando road and Branford Street. The motorist, an elderly man was injured and arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. The force of the accident was so great that it caused the tracks underneath the train to bend and buckle all the way to the train’s destination Sylmar. “Without the shovel like plow at the front of the train, the outcome could have been much worse” said an authority OKN.
