What do we know about the Greenland Shark?
Micke Rowe, the star of Dirty Jobs, went to the Artic to search for a Greenland Shark. He calls it one of the "Unsung Hero Sharks." The Greenland shark is a deep-water shark. It can grow between 12 - 18 feet, but it may grow bigger. A nickname for this shark is the "Sleeper Shark." This shark has a friend; a parasite called a copepod that feeds on the sharks’ corneal tissue of his eye. YUCK!! The sharks main diet is fish but has been know to eat anything...including a whole reindeer...antlers and all.
Very little is known about this shark because it lives so deep in the water. Maybe in my further studies, I will find out more.
