Discovery of the world's largest frog David Krause, a paleontologist from New York discovered the fossil of the largest frog ever to have lived on earth. The name Beelzebufo comes from a Greek word Beelzebub, which means devil and Latin word, bufo, which means toad. This frog is about the size of a beach ball and weighed about ten pounds. Imagine that!! The largest living frog today is the Goliath Frog which is about 12.5 inches and weighs only 7 pounds. This frog was huge and had strong jaws to kill its prey, like lizards and small animals. Researchers think that its mouth may have been strong enough to kill hatchling dinsours. I often go out in my grandparents yard to catch frogs and toads, but I have never seen anything like this!!
